Worst Trends of 2013

This year was full of many great trends but these are a few that missed the mark for me..

Animal Sweaters

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY????? I love animals and maybe they're cute for little kids but why are grown women wearing these sweaters as a fashionable piece? I just don't get it. There have been numerous occasions where I'm in a store and I see a cute sweater from behind but when I pick it up, the sweater is ruined by the huge animal on it. This trend needs to stop!
Sneaker Wedges
Considering how popular these were this year, I'm probably one of the very few who didn't like this trend.  To me, they're just bulky and  not cute. Thank god this trend has died down.
Velvet
I remember wearing a lot of velvet items when I was younger and I can confidently say I'm happy I'm still not wearing them given the fact that it's a hot trend right now. NO JUST STOP, PLEASE! I hate this trend. To me, it's tacky and makes people look like a rug. It also doesn't help that skirts, tops, and leggings come in this fabric. Not the best trend at all, in my opinion.
Platform Flats
Okay, I think many people will agree that this is one of the worst trends of the year. They're so unattractive and are incredibly difficult to pull off. They're obnoxious and unappealing to the eye. Please, don't commit fashion suicide by wearing these. SAVE YOURSELF.
Overalls

Why did these come back? The world doesn't need to see people wearing overalls! These are by far the worst trend of the year. They're unflattering to the body and I have yet to see someone pull off overalls to the point where I'd actually want to wear them. This trend has to go and officially never come back!

Sweater Weather

Cozy sweaters are what make the season most enjoyable. I love how warm and comfortable this taupe sweater is and I added a statement necklace to make the look more fashion forward.

Motorcycle OBSSESSION!

I'm in loveee with motorcycle jackets and always will be. They are the perfect staple piece in anyone wardrobe. I have a good handful of ones I love but this one has to be my favorite. I love the bright pop of red with the silver sipper accent. If you don't have a motorcycle jacket in your closet then I HIGHLY recommend getting one!

Blazin'

By far one of my favorite outfits I've put together! I started off by wearing this grey blazer that always sat in my closet. To make it more 'casual' I threw on this scarf that has a mix of leopard and a snake skin print. Then I wanted to make it more comfortable by adding leggings but instead of wearing plain ones, I opted for this cool snake skin kinda print. These leggings are a great way to add detail without over doing it. Now my favorite part- studded ankle boots! The boots add a nice edge to the look and I love it!

6 Fall/Winter Essentials

6. Moccasins
If moccasins aren't one of your essentials for the fall and winter then I'd definitely recommend including them into your daily style. Moccasins have been my obsession since last year. They're easy to throw on with any outfit. They're comfy and warm while still looking like they're not so much like slippers. If you're looking for a great quality pair that keep your toes warm, I suggest the brand Minnetonka. They last a long time and don't break the bank. Once you've tried them you'll wonder why you never had them in you wardrobe before!

5. Ankle Boots
Not only are they a hot trend right now but they are my preferred choice of shoe over riding boots. Although riding boots are super stylish, they aren't an essential to me because I'm short so they're hard to pull of without making me look shorter than I am. Ankle boots make your legs look miles long and aren't so heavy like riding boots

4. Sweaters/Cardigans
Of course what would  be a fall/winter season without a chunky knit sweater or cardigan. They're perfect for layering and keep you warm and cozy while still looking fab. Not much explaining necessary as to why this is an essential!

3. Motorcycle Jacket
Who doesn't love a great motorcycle jacket? It's the perfect piece to throw over a simple outfit. Fall and winter is all about comfy and stylish and what better way to enforce that by wearing a plain white tee and leggings and making it look like you've tried by throwing on a stunner motorcycle
jacket. Once you buy one you'll never stop wearing it I can promise you that!

2. Leggings
Okay, is there even a question as to why this would be on the countdown? I know everyone can agree that they would not survive the cold seasons without wearing leggings. They're a great layering piece and emphasize comfort. No further explanation needed.

1. Scarves
I don't know what I'd do without my pile of scarves in my closet. Since fall and winter consist of leggings and sweaters, two simple and plain pieces, there has to be that one thing that brings the outfit together and adds the texture, print or color to the look and the scarf does just that!

So there you have it. If you were to wear all of these items (picking one shoe of course) you would have the ideal fall and winter outfit!

Slashed

There's no doubt that fall and winter is everyone's favorite time of year because its sweater weather season. There's nothing better than throwing on a sweater, leggings and moccasins and still looking fabulous! This is by far my favorite sweater in my closet because the cuts in the arms of the sweater adds an edge and the necklace brings it up to a whole new level. It's all you could ever want in an outfit. It's cute, casual and takes no effort to put together.

Ridin'

I've been patientily waiting for the moment the weather got colder so I can throw on some boots! This is the classic fall/winter outfit for me because it's cozy and cute which is all that this season is about. The riding boots go perfectly with this taupe snake skin printed scarf and the zippers on the leggings secretly contributes to the minor details and the thick plum cardigan adds some color to a neutral outfit.
