Print, Texture, & Comfort

Outfit #1: I just bought this top from Forever 21 and I'm in love! Lately, I've been so impressed with their items because they look so high fashion and are decent quality for such a great price. I could not stop taking pictures and looking at this top in the mirror because I'm crazy about it.

Top & Necklace: Forever 21

Outfit #2: I've been searching for the perfect flannel for a while but it's been difficult. The ones I found were either an ugly print, ugly colors or I liked it but it was expensive! I love finding good deals and I will not settle until I find them and I finally did. This flannel was everything I was searching for; the colors are perfect and it's loose but fitted at the same time. I love how versatile it is too because I can wear it dressed up with a statement necklace or wear it open with a tank top underneath. Best part about it: only $16 as opposed to the $36 I almost spent at PacSun!

Flannel: Charlotte Russe Necklace: Forever 21

Outfit #3: I wore this to go Christmas shopping and I was so comfortable. I've been trying to buy more lounge wear because I literally haven't bought some new sweatpants or hoodies since middle school. I love this hoodie because it's comfortable but stylish which are too important things to have in comfy clothes!

That's the Moto: A Round-Up

Anything with a motorcycle style is my weakness. Whenever I see something with this style, I must buy it. Currently, I have 3 jackets and a sweater! The reason I love them so much is because they really fit any style. I always like to switch between styles so no matter what I want to wear, a motorcycle jacket fits that style perfectly. Whether it's grungy, girly, or edgy, it always looks great. What's also great about motorcycle jackets is that it's the perfect go-to piece because you can throw it over anything and it instantly dresses up the look. You could be wearing leggings and a plain v-neck but throw on a motorcycle jacket and you'll go from 0-100 real quick. (I don't know why I keep referencing Drake songs today haha). With that said, Motorcycle jackets are a must have in anyone's wardrobe because of its versatility!

Outfit #1 was what I wore on thanksgiving. It was comfortable yet very dressy! That's always important when you're stuffing your face with food.

Outfit #2 was also comfortable yet dressy. I love this top because you don't have to do much styling to it. It has a beaded neckline so you don't need a necklace. I paired it with my favorite leather jacket to add more color to the outfit and wore one of my favorite pair of shoes at the moment. I've been looking for simple, yet stylish shoes to wear for outfits that are pretty casual and these fit that criteria! The look of them is very casual but the texture is of snake skin (faux) so they are still stylish! The perfect casual shoe!

Preppy & Edgy: A Round-Up

Since my weeks are so busy, it's difficult for me to post consistently on my blog. Taking pictures, editing, and posting takes at least an hour and a half to do. However, I still want to post as much as I can. With that said, I came up with the idea of doing weekly round-ups. I take a quick picture of what I wore to post on ehmoda101's Instagram account, so I figured that whatever pictures I take for that, I can compile them and put into one blog post. It saves me so much more time and I can post more outfits! Some weekly round-ups will be composed of more outfits than others but the important thing is that I can still post on my blog more often without going weeks without posting anything!

The first outfit is something new for me and it took me hours of standing in front of the mirror, debating on whether I liked it or not. But, one day I just went for it and I'm so happy I did because I love it!

The second outfit is so different from the adorable, preppy outfit before it. That just goes to show how diverse I am with my style-I like it all! I love how chill but chic this outfit is. It's perfect for running errands or a casual day at school.

The Fail of the Century

So, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but only a few minutes into taking pictures for this blog posts, I put my bag down on the deck and the chain slid through the crack! It's stuck and it won't come out. By trying to take it out, I only made it worse. The bag is still stuck in the deck as I type. Anyway, This outfit screams fall. The pants are two-toned; they have a faux leather front and a velvet back which is so unique. I paired it with a top that has a faux leather black trim and I layered gold necklaces which I love together. Then, I wore leopard printed flats to add something different to the outfit. It's outfits like these that make me love the fall time!

Leather Is All You Need

The past few weeks have been so hectic. Between work, school, college applications, and stupid drama, I've barely had the time to breath! But, no matter how busy I get, I still manage to keep my outfits on point! One of my favorite outfits I wore during the crazy weeks was this one. I'm obsessed with anything that has leather detailing so a faux leather cap sleeve top is a winner. Leather dresses anything up. Then, to keep it comfy, I wore leggings and my go-to flats for the fall with one of my favorite bags and a classy necklace.
PS: My top is from Ann Taylor which sounds like an old lady store, but their clothes are so my style. It's edgy and chic! I also miss my long hair :(((

My New Favorite Shirt

So, I recently bought this striped shirt from Old Navy and I'm in love! I never shop at Old Navy but I was in the neighborhood so I thought, why not? I picked up this shirt for $4! I'm starting to buy very simple tees like this because they're so comfortable and versatile. Afterall, it is just a plain striped shirt, it doesn't take a genius to know it goes with everything haha. I could've gone several ways with this top and necklace combo but I decided to dress it up a bit by throwing on this blazer. I was also considering throwing on a leather jacket to make it a little egdy or a denim button up to have that grungy vibe. Just so many ways to rock this top! I didn't wear these shoes with the outfit but I thought I'd add something extra since I was doing a blog post.

Casual Friday + Tips to Look Stylish and Comfortable

One of my favorite go-to pieces for days I want to be casual are button ups. They're so comfortable and effortlessly chic. You can also wear them with leggings, I mean who doesn't love that. To dress up the look more, I opted for a statment necklace that's enough to give it a dressier vibe without going overboard. You could also just keep the accessories basic and dainty. Another thing I like to do is curl my hair. Curling your hair totally makes your outfit look more stylish. I curl my hair the night before to save time in the morning but if that method doesn't work for you, leaving your hair how you wear it normally is perfectly fine too.
Can we just talk about this Celine inspired bag for a second? The Celine bags are about $2,000 to $4,000 a pop and ain't nobody got money for that. So, when I found this bag at Windsor for only $35...I couldn't pass that up. It's so versatile. I use it as my school bag and not only is it so cute but it's practical! It holds sooo many things. I was surprised! A nice bag also dresses up any look!

Open Back

One of my favorite tops I've purchased this summer is this light and flowy open back top. It's easy and comfortable and is perfect to wear with caged bralettes.

Back to School Essentials

Blazers
Blazers are perfect for the days you want to look put together. They are also a great staple piece in general because you can dress them up with a necklace or down with a t-shirt and scarf. Overall, it's a piece everyone should have in their back to school wardrobe because of its versatility and comfort.
Cardigans
Nothing says back to school than a nice cardigan. Another piece that is versatile and comfortable and can be dressed up or down just like a blazer.

 Button Ups/Blouses
Blouses and button ups are perfect because they are one of those pieces that make it look like you've tried because they are dressy even though you just threw it on.
 Statement Necklaces
To most people, statement necklaces may not be a must have for back to school but I believe it's super important. The key to looking dressy is to wear statement necklaces! Yes, statement necklaces. You can throw it on with a plain white t-shirt and it transforms an outfit tremendously, therefore, it is perfect for back to school because it requires little effort with a great result.

 T-Shirts
These are a must have for those days you are too tired to get out of bed. Whether you have a graphic tee or just a plain one, a nice, loose fitted t-shirt still gives off a put together look way better than sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

Fashion = Narcissism?: The Truth Behind the Fashion World

If you see someone walking down the street and they are head to toe covered in the brands below, what would you assume to be their personality? Kind and selfless? or Arrogant and rude?

What other adjectives would you describe the personalities of people are rockin' the best outfits?

Well, I'll tell you a few adjectives and descriptions I've heard people say to me...

Self-absorbed            Unable to be active and do adventurous things

"Boojee" (snobby)        All I ever want to do is go to the mall

"You probably go around just judging what everyone wears"

"I'm surprised to hear you don't like being the center of attention"

And those are just some of things people have actually said to me but I'm sure people have said many other things behind my back. The funny thing about this is that these were all said in a "friendly" and "playful" way but to me, these definitely had a negative connotation and came from their true opinions.
Just because I may know of these brands doesn't make me "boojee"
Just because I enjoy fashion and looking my best doesn't mean I go around judging everybody who doesn't want to do the same.
I may not want to spend the majority of my time outside running but that doesn't mean I don't like to do other outdoor activities for fun.
I may want to go to the mall frequently but why is that a bad thing? It's no different than a person who loves soccer to always want to be out on the field yet going to the mall is given a negative connotation.
And lastly, not everyone who is into fashion is self-absorbed. I'm always there for my family and friends and the last thing they would tell you is that I'm arrogant. These are all ASSUMPTIONS.
STOP ASSUMING.

The Truth about Fashion
Yes, there are people who wear expensive brands and are narcissistic but not only are these kinds of people everywhere, but they are not into fashion for the right reasons. Those who truly love fashion are passionate about it because of its impact, its' history, and the empowerment it gives to people (Recognize the difference between empowerment and arrogance). That is why I love fashion. It has changed my life. It has given me the confidence and power I needed because I was once so insecure. It has given me something to be passionate about and it's one of the only things that picks me up when I'm at my lowest. I wear nice outfits for ME because it makes ME feel good about myself not because I like looking better than anyone else or because I'm trying to impress someone but for ME. People associate expensive brands with people who think they are superior to others but to me, it's like art. Not only is it a stunning piece but it's by a famous designer who has been around for decades or even centuries. It's just like a sculpture or painting. Sure it's nice but it's only valuable or relevant to you because of it's artist. Yet people don't perceive someone who has a van Gogh painting as being self-absorbed. So then why is it that having a Chanel bag means you're a snobby upperclassmen?

Stop assuming you know everything about a person and automatically give them a bad reputation by the clothes and brands they wear. Because style is a way to say who you are without having to speak, you may have an idea about who someone is but that doesn't give you the right to degrade someone without actually meeting them.
I hope this is a wake up call to some of you because I'm tired of having to defend what I believe in and who I am as a person.

Style Files: What Not To Wear

Disclaimer: Before I begin, I must state that I accept everyone's form of expression in what they choose to wear. Style is a way of self-expression and who am I to judge what you choose to reflect your personality? The following discusses my opinion on how one can look their best no matter what their style is.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR

Clothes That Don't Fit You

A big part of looking fashionable is how clothes fit your body. Do not wear clothes that are too small or too big. If they are too small, not only will it look unflattering but it will also make you feel constricted and uncomfortable. You should feel confident and comfortable in what you wear and if you're wearing clothes two sizes too small, you definitely won't be comfortable. Wearing clothes that are too big will hide your amazing shape and make you look unorganized and sloppy which may be the opposite of who you actually are. Of course there are exceptions such as oversized sweaters etc...

Clothes That Aren't Flattering

Although the way clothes fit you is a part of how flattering they are on your body, that isn't my point in this particular section. Clothes may fit you but that doesn't necessarily mean it looks good on your figure. For example, shift dresses can make you look boxy and shapeless and peplums can make your hips look wider than you'd like. How well something flatters your body is key to having a well-styled look. A great outfit isn't solely dependent on how things are put together but how they look on your body.

Clothes That Are Dirty/Ripped From Wear and Tear

It may be pretty obvious to not wear dirty, stained and unintentionally ripped items but there are people out there that don't refrain from wearing these items. Wearing these items gives off a sloppy and messy vibe. Not to mention it's just plain nasty!

Clothes That Aren't Age Appropriate

There's nothing wrong with wearing clothes that make you feel youthful if you're a bit older or more sophisticated if you're young but there is a way of doing it and a fine line between young and hip and an old lady trying to fit in little kids clothing. Don't be that person.
